PORSCHE 911 GT2 (993)
The GT2 represents one of my first favourite Porsches, fitted with the last air cooled flat 6 Porsche engine for the 993 production series. Based on the Porsche 993 4-wheel drive twin turbo, the Porsche 911 GT2 is named as this Model but badged as an 911 GT. This car was rear wheel drive only & substantially lightened to only 1295 kg & with 444 bhp for the last model made (in 1998) with the first launched in 1993. Unfortunately this is a very rare supercar.
With only 57 cars produced by Porsche of which 13 were Right Hand drive, you’re not going to see one of these magnificent supercars everyday. I have seen over 5 of these cars & not one actually running on the road.
For the ultimate car collection this car has to be one of the prized bucket list choices end off.
For some reason, I don’t know why but all my favourite cars seem to gravitate to the North side of rather pricy for the average enthusiast. That’s not to say that all my favourite cars started initially as expensive, as there are lots of cars I have dreamed of & ultimately owned that have escalated in value, after I have sold them. That’s the fun of car ownership for sure. If only we could keep all the cars we buy, except one would need a very large garage or unless your name starts with Jay!
A Porsche GT2 (993) recently sold for £1.86 million, so yeah its certainly a sought after car.
The wide-body Classic 911 tail is just the best ever Porsche Design there has ever been in my opinion.
For a 1993 rear wheel drive only car 0-60 mph in 3.9 secs & 0-100 in 8.7 secs was very impressive, yet these figures play only a small part in the driving experience of this supercar, bereft of driver aids & with a manual gear change & race car handling for the road, make this Porsche 911 GT2 (993) one of the greatest cars ever produced in the World.
